Sougia Village, nestled along the tranquil south coast of Crete near Chania, offers a serene escape with its pristine beach and a handful of charming taverns serving traditional delicacies. Once home to the ancient town of Syia, Sougia has evolved into a laid-back seaside resort, attracting visitors seeking both natural beauty and a peaceful atmosphere. With approximately 110 inhabitants, it is part of a community comprising three other quaint villages. Sougia’s one-kilometer pebble beach boasts clean and safe waters, although strong westerly winds can occasionally disturb the tranquility. Nudism is tolerated on the eastern side of the beach.
